If you enjoy crafting or investing in handmade goods and gifts, it’s likely you have a collection of vinyl adhesive and/or quite a few items made with these handy self-sticking tools.

Organizing all of these vinyl films in the home can be challenging enough, but safely preparing them for self-storage presents a few additional ones. Here’s how to store your crafting vinyl adhesives and goodies made using them.

    Get Vinyl Adhesive Items Organized

If you’re a crafter, it’s possible that you have pieces in an array of sizes and shapes.

Because there are numerous types of adhesives (permanent, laminates, heat transfer, etc.) in many colors, take time to sort them out in a fashion conducive to your uses and needs.

Roll up large pieces, and place smaller scraps in folders or smaller containers to keep things orderly.

    Be Container Smart

Using clear plastic containers that seal tightly will keep vinyl adhesives and other crafting supplies in tip-top shape throughout the storage period. Solid storage cases prevent pressure and moisture that will definitely cause damage.

Carefully label what you’ve organized and take care to separate completed items from those in progress to prevent the adhesives from sticking to each other and ruining your treasures. You might want to invest in dividers that fit into the containers for fragile goods.

    Find an Appropriate Self-Storage Unit

It’s highly advised to only consider a climate controlled self-storage facility for crafting items such as delicate vinyl adhesives.

Once they become too hot, too cold, too moist or dry, they tend to lose their adhesive abilities or possibly separate from the liners completely. If you will need your crafts often, find a place nearby your residence for easy access.

When you properly store your vinyl adhesives from crafting or goods that rely on adhesives, you can use them for years to come and preserve your collection safely.
