As a homeowner, you’ll be faced with various different repairs, maintenance appointments, and invoices that reflect. While some repairs may be more common than others, these are the most common repairs you’ll be faced with over the years.
Homeowner repairs
Air conditioning repair – During your maintenance appointments, your HVAC company will let you know if there are issues with your air conditioner that need to be repaired. Unless you have experience working with air conditioners, it’s not likely you’ll be able to identify these issues without the help of a professional.
Structural repair – As your home ages you’ll have structural issues come up that you’ll need to fix. Structural damages include:
- Leaking ceilings
- Cement and concrete cracks
- Broken windows or doors
- Water leaks inside your walls or floors
- Carpet mold
- Drywall mold from water moisture
Roof repair – Another common issue you’ll likely face once or twice during your time as a homeowner is the need to repair or replace your home’s roof. Shingles typically last 15-20 years unless weather conditions like tornados, snow, or high winds negatively affect them.
Wood repairs – These are most common when wood rots or grows mold and you experience a termite issue. In this case, tearing out the entire section where the mold or rot happened, then replacing it is the best solution.
Sewer lines – Sewer lines are another repair many homeowners face if they don’t keep up on their regular plumbing maintenance appointments. Most of you know about having twice a year HVAC company maintenance appointment, but you likely didn’t know you are also supposed to have a yearly plumbing appointment. These appointments will not be handled by the same company.
