Mental Health and Remote Work are going hand in hand. The Mental Health of people working remotely has shown a considerable decline and thus the employers are worried about their employees and the company.

The excessive pressure upon the employees regarding the work and household chores has led them to think negatively about their surroundings and work. The employees are slowly giving up their will to work and some are even quitting their jobs like anything.

Burnout has seemed to be the most prevailing Mental Health concern during the work-from-home period. Many employees are not even able to recognize it properly.

A very important study made by Flexjobs states that employees have reported really poor mental health after the pandemic than before the start of the pandemic. This is because they are somewhere or the other confused about the roles they have to play and also due to the work overload on them or even under load.

Let us first see what Burnout and its symptoms are so that any employee reading this might be able to recognize it effectively before it is too late.

    Burnout

Burnout is a psychological disorder or state which arises due to chronic workplace stress. It usually occurs when the employee is not able to recognize the stress and the stress is not properly treated or talked about.

Therefore, the manager needs to keep a close and friendly check on his/her employees.

    Symptoms of Burnout

    • Self-doubt.
    • Lack of or no motivation.
    • Feeling of being alone.
    • Disturbed Sleep.
    • Pessimism.

These are a few common and first looked symptoms that tell if a person does or does not have burnout.

Let us discuss some tips on how to prevent Burnout at Remote Work.

Tips for Preventing Burnout During Remote Working

    1. Do Make Boundaries – Work is surely a really important part of everyone’s life but, working at the cost of one’s mental health is not. Thus, one should know that a line needs to be drawn between professional work and personal life. An imbalance between the two might severely lead to burnout conditions
    1. Do Maintain a Social Life – There are chances that away from the office you might feel alone and as if no one is there for you. We tend to develop a habit of going to the office and interacting with friends and colleagues. This can especially be hard for extroverts.

Therefore, make a group of your friends and have a video chat or a conference call now and then. It would boost your morale and mood!

    1. Keep Yourself at the Top – Do not ever forget that you are the most important person and no one is as important as you. Thus, take breaks from your work. Take a day off if possible and do all the possible activities that you could do.

For instance, take a hot shower and read your favorite book, or watch your favorite movie. Just give that whole day to yourself! Recharge your body and mind!

    1. Indulge in Physical Workout – It is well-known and proven that people who indulge in workouts tend to be healthier and happier both mentally and physically. Thus, take a break, or even after the working hours are finished just plan a workout or at least do Yoga.

All these things help relieve stress and anxiety to a great level.

    1. Have expectations from yourself which are realistic – Yes, it is good to expect certain things from yourself at work but, over-expecting them and setting goals and expectations that are unrealistic can be more harmful than ever!

If these unrealistic expectations do not get completed by the end of the day, it is you who is going to suffer mentally very badly.

Keeping a constant check on your employee productivity is important. Hence, a workforce productivity and analytics software company by the name of work examiner is at your service! It helps you keep a track of your employee’s productivity and work.

You could check and motivate your staff as soon as you feel that they are getting down on productivity.
